The Original Cocky Black Woman T-Shirt

In 2022, I saw a post on Essence’s Instagram account that read “The world doesn’t like cocky black women but I do.” It made me pause and got me thinking. Why do so many Black women feel as though they must shrink in order to make those around them feel more comfortable? What’s wrong with being a little cocky anyway? I mean if you’re confident, intelligent, resourceful, passionate, outspoken, and just all around dope and amazing, why not let the world see you in your full radiance? So girl, don’t shrink yourself. Step boldly and apologetically into the world just as you are—a Cocky Black Woman.
